About

Almost from it's beginnings, the Christian Church has been involved with the arts, a relationship which continues down to the present time. As recently as 1999, Pope John Paul II, in his "Letter to Artists" spoke of his desire "to help consolidate a more constructive partnership between art and the church. Mine is an invitation to rediscover the depth of the spiritual and religious dimension which has been typical of art in its noblest forms in every age."

Angel Studio seeks to embody that partnership of which the late pope wrote. Art makes visible the world of the Spirit, it attempts to make meaningful that which is essentially ineffable. Through the contemporary images of Spirit here provided in original works, reproductions and in card form, we wish to provide a bridge, an opening into Mystery for anyone interested in that connection, and do so in an affordable manner.

Michael Moran professed his vows in 1974 as a Brother of the Eastern Province of the Passionist Community in the USA. Since then he has spent much time and private study developing his artistic talents. Proficient in many media, one of his specialties is painting icons, translating this ancient art form of the Eastern Christian Churches into contemporary terms. His works have been exhibited since 1985 in galleries and museums largely in Illinois, Kentucky, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas..
